William O'Brien is one of the speakers at the Annual Investors Choice® Venture Capital Conference. His speech is entitled the "Road to IPO".
Here are some of the points made during his speech:
It is very tempting for early stage companies to not think of IPO. Many early stage companies view acquisition as a more attractive exit strategy. If you don’t think of IPO as an option, you are really a mercenary not a visionary.
Early in your company life cycle, you need to start with some corporate services and take a mature approach to them. Such as having a disciplined PR strategy and adequate insurance. Find service providers who have the experience of providing services along the maturation process.
Make sure you understand the advice that you get from your counselors and advisors.
Q. Can you give us advise on how to reduce costs to become SOX compliant?
SOX compliance is not too bad, especially if you do it right early on. You can minimize those costs early on if you make your processes SOX compliant from the beginning.
